Not Your Typical Mall

When I got here in the US and my husband brought me to the mall I was a bit dismayed because I thought the mall is very big and multiple story. But it is only a one story but long building with a lot of shops or stores inside. Most of the shops I saw in many malls that I have been to here are mostly the same. I was anticipating that the malls here are like the ones in the Philippines that are 2 to 5 stories and with a big food court area. Well I think the malls I have been to are smalls and maybe other states have the malls that I have in mind. Can you share what the mall looks like in your area?
